Location Overview

Provides free legal advice and representation on housing-related matters. Program is for low-income individuals and families in Santa Clara County. Addresses the following concerns:
  • Defending eviction lawsuit
  • Housing discrimination issues
  • Enforcing the San Jose Tenante Protection Ordinance
  • Legal outreach and support for renter organizing/campaigns
  • Help with Housing Authority hearings
  • Section 8 and other low-income housing issues
  • Legal advice and information to tenants regarding notices for repairs/bad conditions

Eligibility
Anyone who has experienced housing discrimination in Santa Clara County is eligible for FHLP's services. FHLP has no income restrictions; although at least 51% of FHLP's clients are low income. Citizenship is not required.
