Location Overview

Provides general library services in San Francisco. Includes books for loan, audio cassettes, video cassettes, CD's, and DVD's. Reference services and inter-library loan. Also offers access to public computers and Wi-Fi.

Collection includes:
  • English-language materials for adults, teens and children
  • Large Chinese-language collection of materials as well as small collections of Russian materials
  • Photographic history archive collected from neighborhood residents. Part of the Shades of San Francisco project.
Please note
Also offers as an air respite and heat respite center.
These services are not available if a power outage occurs in this facility.

Eligibility
. California residency required to obtain library card; must have a library card to check out materials. . San Francisco residents who have a disability or long-term medical condition that prevents you from visiting the Library may use Home Library Services. . Educators living or working in SF may apply for a Teacher Card. . SFPL also offers Welcome, Digital Access, and Visitor cards for those who don't have a CA ID.

Fees
No fees for most services, but fines for lost or damaged items. Visitor cards cost $10 and are valid for 3 months.
