Provides legal services and promotes the rights of people of color, immigrants, and refugees. Specific focus on low-income communities with a commitment to African Americans.
Direct services programs are:
- Asylum Program - provides pro bono legal services to indigent refugees fleeing persecution and torture. Coordinates with attorneys, interpreters, and mentor attorneys to represent clients in proceedings.
- Legal Services for Entrepreneurs - serves low-income individuals who want to start or develop for-profit businesses. Fosters community economic development. Also offers assistance with legal business issues.
- Bail Clinic - helps connect people struggling with bail debt with pro bono advocates who can help them get out of debt and free from bail bond contracts.
- The People's Clinic - provides free legal services to those who have experienced police violence. Those interested in pursuing a case against California law enforcement can meet with attorneys for 60-minute consultations and receive assistance preparing necessary claims and forms.
- GLIDE Unconditional Clinic - provides people who have legal questions and aren't able to pay to speak with a lawyer, with free legal advice and referrals to organizations who can provide specialized help for whatever the situation is.
Accepts volunteers to serve as onsite interpreters and uses a telephonic service for other language needs.
